The Partnership
In our view, the Bonny Method is unique as an advanced form of music therapy able to deliver an exceptionally enriching experience to people with or without diagnosed difficulties seeking better health.
As fully qualified Music Therapists Roddy and Matina are registered members of the Health and Care professions Council (HCPC), British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT), European Association of Music and Imagery (EAMI), the Association for Music and Imagery (AMI), and the Music and Imagery Association of UK and Ireland (MAIA).
Matina, a Fellow in the Bonny Method of GIM, and Roddy, an Advanced Trainee, can both offer sessions, with Roddy’s available at a reduced rate.
Matina Karastatira
After qualifying with Honours from the Ionian University with a Bachelor’s in the Science and Art of Music, I came into the UK and got my Masters qualification in Music Therapy from Anglia Ruskin University in 2008. I have several years of experience working with children with learning and emotional difficulties and adults with mental health problems. My current work includes working in schools and nurseries, providing individual and group music therapy sessions and privately with adults with emotional, mental health issues and those seeking to improve themselves.
In the last few years, Matina furthered her qualifications by studying receptive techniques in music therapy. She has done further training in the Bonny Method of GIM, MB & SMI, RMI. She is hoping to help people improve their well-being by using creative arts.
SMI, RMI, and MB are short-term therapies for people who seek to learn skills to practice at home.
During the therapy, I create a secure and confidential environment where complicated feelings or memories that may emerge are processed securely and safely.
Roddy Skeaping
Following a long career as a professional musician and composer, he trained as a Nordoff-Robbins music therapist, working within the Dementia Care and Neuro-rehabilitation settings.
As a specialist in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (BMGIM), his music therapy work now centres increasingly on helping people with emotional and life issues.
Over the past two years, he has been practicing BMGIM therapy at the Centre for Better Health in Hackney. Now, as his training nears completion and he looks forward to gaining his Fellowship, he is offering GIM sessions at a reduced rate.
