Initial Consultation & Acceptance

Music Therapy

There is a period of 4 weeks of assessment sessions of 30 to 45 minutes with the client. This is the time during which information is gathered. If the client is a child, there will be a preliminary discussion with the parent [or carer] regarding the child’s specific needs and difficulties. Following the assessment period, there will be a further discussion to agree about whether or not music therapy is the best way forward.

Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music

Acceptance on a course is via 1hr or 1.5hr interview which includes a “taster session”. After that initial interview, the therapist will get in contact with their supervisor to discuss the suitability of the client for that particular method. This is to ensure we only accept clients for whom it is perfectly safe.

Once accepted, a course of 3, 6 or a Full Course of 10 sessions are offered.

The sessions are spaced at approximately 2-3 weeks intervals by mutual arrangement and last 1.5hrs.
